12 tags of 2015 and a winner

I hope none of you were sitting waiting for this post!
I seem to be extremely busy with a lot of overtime at work the last few weeks!
So now I'm a week behind in picking a winner from the Birthday Giveaway!
So lets start with that!
The lucky winner is Renee Stein!
Renee, please contact me and I'll get your prize out to you asap!

Now, for my take on the March 12 tags of 2015
This month Tim showed us how to use embossing paste,
 with gold embossing powder!
On Tim's tag he used a butterfly,
after looking over my small selection of butterflies I wasn't happy with any of them,
so I went straight to my new Dina Wakley scribbly Birds stamps.

And this little guy was perfect!
I added some wood veneer hearts,
and some bits and bobs from the curiosities line.
Finally a button and some ribbon to finish off the top of the tag.
A quick one this month,
I was lucky enough to be able to pick up the new Typo Layering stencil
at my local scrapbook store.

Otherwise I had most all that I needed to finish this fun March Tag!

I hope you all are playing along with the tags this month!

Happy Birthday and a new challenge at Anything But a Card

Good morning!
Happy Birthday to me!
Yep, that's right, I'm another year older,
and you all get the present!!!
I have a present for one of you
I picked up some of my favorite things to share with you!
A Tim Holtz stencil, and rub ons,  then there is a stamp set, and some wood veneers that are hearts and arrows.
What do you need to do to win??
Well, just follow my blog, and leave me a comment telling me what your favorite cake is.
Mine by the way is vanilla cake with vanilla frosting!
And I live some great icecream to go with it of course too!

So many of you may have found my blog through the new challenge at Anything But a Card
this month the challenge is Green with Envy,
and I'm sharing a fun little canvas that I made.
Green isn't a color that I use a lot in my crafting, so this was a bit of a stretch for me.
But I recently got some of Dina Wakley's scribbly birds,
and I thought it would be fun to stamp and then paint the birds up.
I found some little canvas' (5x7) at Michaels, and went to town.
I have to admit the stamping part was a little messy and uneven,
but once I started painting it was so fun and soothing!

I hope you all join in the "Green" fun, and join the challenge,
and don't forget to leave a comment with your favorite cake!!!

The Birthday giveaway will close on March 14th.

Memory boards

Helllo everyone!
I have a fun project to share with you today!
(warning, picture heavy post below!)
A friend asked me to make a memory board for her mother's funeral.
She sent me a couple pictures, and I was off.

We wanted a very vintage feel, so I printed the pictures out in black and white, and noir,
For the board on the back I used a scrabble board.
I had lots and lots of them leftover from my wedding four years ago,
and this was a perfect opportunity to use one.
I painted it brown, but made sure that it wasn't so dark that you couldn't still see the board.
Then I used Tim Holtz wood grain stencil to add a little texture.
Then I went to town with some tags.
I assembled the flowers from a pack of Prima flowers, with a brad in the middle,
then I added some bits and pieces from bo bunny, a bunch of used postage stamps.
On this tag I added a Tim Holtz metal word phrase, a butterfly punch, and below you'll see an assortment of ephemera.
More estate sale and fun other finds added to the different tags.
This was a fun project, and I even did a second board for her brother.
In the bottom left hand corner you can see (hopefully)
where I added the years of her life, 1923 - 2015.

It was very similar.
I have to say this was a fun project that really pushed me to use up some of
the fun bits that I have in the craft room.
I hope you have found some inspiration, and if you are interested in ordering your own
memory board please feel free to contact me, I would be happy to make one for you as well!

A valentine and a tag

Happy Valentines day to all of you!
I spent all last week making valentines for my friends at work,
and for my mother-in-law's friends.
Then today I realized that i had made nothing for my hubby.
Soooo I knew I needed to work on my 12 tags of 2015 for Feb,
so I thought why not do both at the same time??
And so I did!
Here is the fun card I came up with, and below is the tag for Feb.
Still the card! But a different view!

And here is my tag.  I struggled a little with the frame around the heart,
and when I teach my class in a few weeks I will use a different paper for this.
I think the red on red get's very lost!

Otherwise I'm pretty happy with the results, especially the cool metal button,
and I adore the metal button as well.

Did I tell you all that I won last month?
You can find my creation here
Yep, I was so very very very excited.
I got a brand new set of stamps, and a fabulous brand new stencil as well!
It's like Tim and Mario know me!

I'm also excited that I will be getting to attend two Dina Wakley classes,
one in March, and another in May!  I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am!

I hope you all are well, and I will be of course linking my tag up with the Tim's challenge 12 tags of 2015  again this moth!

I was supposed to have this post up yesterday, but somehow the day got away from me!  How does that seem to happen?
Well I have a cute little watercolor to share with you. There is a brand spankin new challenge over at anything but a card its friendship.
I've been working on some fancier type hand lettering, so I used a black permanent pen to do the words, and then I hit it with some water colors. I hope you enjoy, and come join the challenge.

Be still

I want to share with you all s fun piece I woke up thinking about.
Do you want a bit of a back story?
Well here goes.
A number of months ago I painted and sanded some pieces of wood.
I had hoped to piece them together to make a sign.
Alas that never happened, and the pieces ended up stacked in the garage under a shelf.
Two days ago my daily bible verse was
The lord will fight for you, you need only to be still. Exodus 14:14.
Wow talk about speaking directly yo my soul.
I needed those words like I need water.
This morning I woke up thinking about that verse,
And how I could bring them into my home.
So.... I stenciled and hand painted them onto those old pieces of weathered wood.
I've never attempted this sort of project before, so it's certainly new to me!

Wow I was blown away by how quickly this went together,
And I'm loving the end result.
I hope today finds you being still, I'm hearing so much more from the lord when I stop all the chatter.

12 tags of 2015: January

I've been in a mixed media frenzy lately!
I have paint all over myself, and all over my studio.

If you read my post on Sunday you know that I've started a new journal, and I'll be
doing Documented Life and Documented Faith.

Well I also want to do the 12 tags of 2015 that Tim Holtz posts every month.
It's a good chance to maybe try out some new product, and it's always a chance to do something new.
I love that he usually shows us a new technique,
and this year I'm going to attempt to teach his tag to my Meet up group!

Sooooo without further adieu, here is my take.
And here's a close up of the twenty and the 15.
MMMM look at all that painted goodness!
And glittery too!
Finally i had to share this pic, I took it when I was glittering up my 5.

Of course now I have glitter everywhere
including the Living Room floor, and my dog's head,
but that's the fun of it isn't it??
